MY TOP 5 WOMENSWEAR TRENDS FOR THIS AUTUMN/WINTER ’17 SEASON

Don’t make fashion own you, you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way you live.

[Gianni Versace]

The transitional wardrobe pieces are in full swing as Autumn is well and truly settling in for the last part of this fly by year. Crunchy leaves underfoot, beautiful autumnal sunshine and crisp mornings have got me digging in the back of my wardrobe for my favourite knitwear pieces and key transitional garms from seasons gone by – yes! This autumn/winter season is good news for our wardrobes and bank balance as many designers have geared their collections more towards repetition of trends such as sports luxe, metallics, knitwear and denim that have been doing the rounds now for three or four seasons. This has helped to break down the historical fashion faux pas of “that’s so last season” and is allowing us to reinvent our already existing wardrobe pieces.

Although my top 5 focus more on the new seasonal trends, I see these as inspirations that I can incorporate into my older pieces so there’s ample stylised dreams to create.

With all the issues surrounding us today both politically, socially and economically many designers have incorporated slogan design into their collections in order to create a voice to encourage unity and solidarity amongst us. This was further reinforced by a general sense of alignment between the four cities fashion weeks in terms of a strong focus on designer individuality and collections being created for women of all ages from casting to styling.

Your style says a lot about you and whilst we live in a society where everything is expected to happen so quickly your fashion sense speaks an instant language.

So express yourself and get your eclectic vibes on as anything goes and make sure you encourage that burst of colour into your wardrobe this season as we all need to spread as much happiness as we can.
